Behold these beautiful, ripe, luscious persimmons from my friend Spring's tree in Santa Rosa, brought to me by our mutual friend Amy. Biting into one of these is what I imagine it would be like to taste nectar from Mt. Olympus - so sweet and juicy, and dripping with goodness. (Their genus, Diospyros, actually means "fruit of the gods", so it appears that I am not alone in this thinking). They are so tender right now, you can scoop out the flesh with a spoon. What a wonderful treat!
