Start Me Up
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I can think of no better reason to get out of bed in the morning.
Here is a typical breakfast for me: English Muffins with butter and jam, and coffee with milk.
I am very particular about the quality of the food and the brands that I buy, and it's one of the best things about living in San Francisco that we are able to find these things easily and in abundance.
Having English Muffins and coffee is a wonderful reminder of my grandmother. I lived with her for one summer during college, and every morning we would have her version of this breakfast together, silently, gently greeting the day and each other with this first meal. She and I were so similar and understood each other so well, even when it came to food. I miss her every day.
What I love about breakfast is that always feels like you are tasting food for the first time. That first sip of coffee, that first crunch of the English Muffin. Your tastebuds are aware and receptive to the flavors and textures in a way that cannot be captured again that day.
